India - Udaipur A white city with a leisurely beauty that I fell in love with!

🚗 Move: Ahmedabad → Udaipur The highlight of today is to head straight from Ahmedabad to the legendary white city of Udaipur! We chose to call an Uber XL directly. The journey took about 5 hours and cost about NT$3,000. In fact, you can also choose to take a cross-city bus, which only costs about NT$200 per person, but you have to go to the bus station first, and then take a tuk-tuk from the station to the hotel. We sisters just took the lazy trip and saved money and trouble. *Reminder: The price shown by Uber is INR 7000 (about NT$2800), but the driver will charge you INR 1000 for the cross-city fee, so the total is INR 8000 (about NT$3200). Please be mentally prepared. ⸻ 🏨 Accommodation: Bloom Boutique - Lake Pichola (2 double rooms, about NT$2000 per night) The environment of this hotel is great, it is surrounded by lakes, the rooms are clean and the atmosphere is good. It is a rare mid-priced hotel in India that you can stay in with confidence, and the CP value is really good. ⸻ 🍽 Chirag Roof Top Restaurant (lake view restaurant) After checking in, I went straight to lunch. It was already 2pm and I was so hungry! We ordered four different flavors of Indian curry (egg curry, spinach, cauliflower, eggplant), with mango lassi, all of which were delicious! Moreover, it only cost less than NT$800 for four people to eat until they were full, which means an average of only NT$200 per person! It turns out that when you come to India, you should eat Indian food with confidence. You can choose any dish without any problems. ⸻ 💰 Money exchange experience After dinner, we went to exchange money. Sure enough, the currency exchange office on the street was more cost-effective. 1 US dollar could be exchanged for 86.5 rupees, and there was no handling fee! Yesterday at the airport I only had 80 but was charged INR 405 in handling fee. It was a painful lesson. Once you have cash, start shopping! Things on the streets of India are super easy to buy, and the best thing is that the prices are printed directly on the packaging. Unlike in Egypt, where you have to haggle with the store owner until you get angry, it’s much easier here, you can just buy directly. ⸻ 🍵 Pani Puri & roadside teh first experience Finally I got to drink the Pani Puri and roadside teh that I had been craving for! It’s really so happy. I love the atmosphere here, it’s relaxed and friendly. The vibe of Udaipur is really great, and I couldn’t help but keep telling my friends “I love it here!” ⸻ 🚠 Udaipur Ropeway Udaipur Ropeway Ticket price: less than NT$50 per person for a round trip Opening hours: 09:00 - 21:00 Take the cable car directly to the top of Machla Magra Mountain, which used to be the ruins of a fortress and is now an excellent viewing point overlooking the entire Lake Pichola and the city. The sky was super blue when we got up there, and the first thing the four of us said was, "The air here is better than in Taichung!" It was really hilarious, but we have to admit that the air and view here are amazing. We waited in line for about 40 minutes, but the scenery we took made it all worth it! When the sun set around 6:30, I went to the cafe on the top of the mountain to have an iced American coffee. I also tried the 360-degree rotating camera for the first time in my life. It was only NT$15, which was super cheap. I didn’t dare to buy it when I saw it costing NT$30 in New York before, but this time I got it easily! The little girl next to us was dancing and taking pictures at the same time, which was so cute. When I thought about how we were so embarrassed when we took pictures for the first time and didn’t know how to move, it was really funny and cute. ⸻ 🖋 Short story: Hena appointment When we were going down the mountain and waiting for the cable car, there happened to be a German mother and daughter sitting next to us. They had beautiful Henna painted on their hands. I immediately plucked up the courage to ask them where they got it painted. They were very enthusiastic and directly gave me Google Map and the artist’s phone number. I immediately made an appointment via WhatsApp. The most important thing is that they were willing to come directly to the hotel to help us paint! Although the price is a bit higher than street prices, his paintings are really detailed and beautiful. I look forward to having a beautiful mark of India on my hands on Sunday. ⸻ 🛺 Interlude After getting off the cable car, we originally wanted to take a tuk-tuk back to the hotel. It was only INR 150 when we came, but the driver increased the price to INR 400 on the way back, so we gave up! The price for an Uber was INR 160, but when we got off the car it became INR 380, which is about the same as the price of a tuk-tuk... We just took it as another lesson and accepted the daily life in India with a smile. ⸻ 🌙 Night walk & street food It was already past nine o'clock when we returned to the hotel, but we still couldn't help but go out for a walk. The roadside snack stalls were so attractive! Originally we just wanted to take a walk, but in the end we couldn't help but try the roadside stalls. It was cheap and satisfying, and it was really the happiest little happiness in the trip. ⸻ #IndiaTravel #Udaipur #Udaipur #BackpackerDiary #IndianMilkTea #PaniPuri #UdaipurRopeway #HennaFirstExperience #TravelInterlude #SuperChillIndia #NewYearDestinations2025 #IndiaItinerary
