[Ueno] Tsutaya Jūzaburō Exhibition

🖼️[Ueno] Special Exhibition "Tsutaya Jūzaburō: The Pioneer of the Content Business" A large-scale exhibition shedding light on Tsutaya Jūzaburō (1750–97), the "media king" who shook the Edo publishing world. From the Yoshiwara period in Edo to after the move to Nihonbashi, about 250 valuable publications and ukiyo-e prints are displayed in chronological order. Original works of nishiki-e and kyōka books by artists he discovered, such as Utamaro, Sharaku, and Hokusai, are also featured! The exhibition is structured in the following three chapters: 1. Yoshiwara Period → 2. Expansion to Nihonbashi and Innovation in Kyōka Books → 3.
