This shrine is widely known as the birthplace of the maneki-neko (lucky cat) and is located in Imado, Taito Ward. The origin of this story can be traced back to 1063, when Minamoto no Yoriyoshi and his family conquered Oshu and brought the Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine from Kyoto to this place and built it into a shrine. There are many different opinions about the origin of the lucky cat. It is said that it originated from the Imado ware that was produced in the Imado area in the 16th century. There are many historical sites with deep roots in the shrine, such as the "Monument of the Birthplace of Imado-yaki" and the "Cat Petting Stone Statue". As a shrine for forming relationships, there is a constant stream of female visitors.
