Tokyo, Japan: Sanno Festival, one of the three major festivals in Japan: Hie Shrine

#Hiejinja Shrine One of the famous major shrines in Tokyo, located between Akasaka-Mitsuke and Ruike-Sanno Station, it is high above the ground and large in scale. The #SannoFestival of Sanno Hie Shrine, the #TenjinFestival in Osaka, and the #GionFestival in Kyoto are known as the three major festivals in Japan. Hie Shrine is famous for blessing marriage, finding a good match, career luck, and prosperous business. In the hinterland, there are not only the commonly seen Komainu, but also statues of sacred monkeys that are said to attract good relationships, as well as amulets and ema designed with monkeys in mind. There is a row of red torii tunnels at the west entrance.
