Exploring the Autumn Scenery of Beining Park, Where Every Step Offers a New View

Yesterday, I took some time to stroll around Beining Park to see if the autumn scenery had fully arrived. I found that except for a few spots where yellow leaves had already begun to welcome autumn, most areas still retained the late summer look. During this walk in Beining Park, I suddenly realized that I had truly underestimated the park's size. Previously, when people said there was a new view at every step, I thought it was an exaggeration. However, being inside the park, I genuinely felt that every scene was unique and beautiful. The park’s classical garden design, blending the characteristics of Jiangnan and northern Chinese gardens, allowed me to unknowingly enjoy the intertwined beauty of architecture, landscaping, and water reflections. A corridor over 2,000 meters long connects 29 bridges, creating a landscape of pavilions and waterside terraces. Although I couldn’t enter Zhiyuan Tower to see the murals depicting cultural themes from various dynasties, I could still admire its towering presence outside and feel the affection of autumn upon it. Two Jin Dynasty stone lions in front of the tower stand guard with the aura of “Mr. Universe,” their well-defined muscles showing a hint of humor beneath their solemnity. Beining Park has a unique background compared to other parks. It was originally a plantation garden established by Zhou Xuexi under Yuan Shikai’s commission in 1906. After expansion by the Beining Railway Bureau in 1932, it became the largest modern public garden complex in Tianjin. Here, locals enjoy lotus viewing in summer, leaf watching in autumn, and listening to operas or singing old songs at the foot of Diecui Hill, making it a favorite leisure spot. Even though the park has experienced both glory and decline, undergoing several renovations and calls from Tianjin citizens for its preservation, it still holds a unique charm that attracts visitors to linger and explore.
