Slow Life in the Mountains of Xijingyu, Jizhou

Having heard about Xijingyu Cultural Village for a long time, I specifically drove to Jizhou, winding up the mountain to enter the village. The village’s ecology is much better than I imagined. This village was founded in the late Ming Dynasty, surrounded by mountains forming a shape like the bottom of a well. After chatting with the locals, I learned that the most distinctive feature of this village is its stones. The village preserves many stone courtyards from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Walking deep into the village, touching the stone walls beside me feels like having a conversation with time. The village is not very large; you can stroll through it in about forty to fifty minutes, but the cultural tourism services within the village are very complete, including a café, guesthouses, pizza restaurants, bars, and tea houses. Villagers display their homegrown mountain produce at the village entrances and exits, and from afar, you can smell the sour fragrance of mountain jujubes and the sweet aroma of wild pears. Xijingyu itself is not a famous scenic spot, but standing on the viewing platform and gazing at the layers of distant mountains, you can still be moved by the beauty of the unassuming ordinary. 📍 Yuyang Town, Jizhou District, Tianjin City. A taxi from downtown Jizhou costs about 20 yuan.
