Visit Tamsui Cultural Park: Gupai Story House (Gupai Warehouse)

#2月好去地方2025 The area around Tamsui MRT Station was formerly known as "Bizitou". After the opening of Tamsui Port, foreign buildings and foreign companies were everywhere. In addition to the five major foreign companies - Po Shun, Tak Kee, Water and Land, Hutchison, and Yi Kee, the Jas & Co. was also among them. The oil storage warehouse and oil tank of Shell Company located at No. 22 Bizitou Street today was formerly the "British Jas & Co. Warehouse". It is now the site of the "Tamsui Cultural Foundation" and the "Tamsui Community University". The former British-owned Shell Warehouse (Tamsui Shell Warehouse), a designated historic site in New Taipei City, has four large warehouses, three small buildings, and oil tank ruins, covering an area of ​​nearly 4,000 square meters. It has witnessed important historical moments such as the opening of the Tamsui Port, Japan's conquest of Taiwan, and the bombing of Taiwan by the US military during World War II. It is one of the few remaining historical foreign company warehouses in northern Taiwan, and one of the few industrial heritage sites in Taiwan. Currently, there are three warehouses open for visitors.
