East China University of Political Science and Law, Changning Campus, is the most accessible university I have ever seen in recent years. The walls have been removed, and you can go straight in. East China University of Political Science and Law has removed the walls along Wanhangdu Road, and the century-old campus with its Chinese and Western-style cultural heritage buildings is open to the public. This is the site of St. John's University, with more than 20 historic buildings. Huai Shi Hall (now called Taofen Building) is the main building of the campus, located in the center of the central axis. It was built during the St. John's College period and was named in honor of the outstanding alumnus Zou Taofen. This first completed main building set the tone for the campus. At that time, the president of St. John's University, Francis Lister Hawks Pott, proposed that the architecture of the campus should adhere to the design concept of "preserving the characteristics of Chinese houses, such as the four corners of the roof, all in a curved shape." Since then, the "hipped roof with upturned eaves" style has been applied to almost all the school buildings on campus. In 1899, the Science Building, also known as Gezhi Room, was completed for laboratories and student dormitories. It is now called Gezhi Building, a three-story brick and wood structure located southeast of Taofen Building. Gezhi Building is the first building in Chinese universities specifically used for teaching natural sciences. Siyan Hall was completed in 1904, and Dr. Sun Yat-sen once gave a speech here. The Chinese-style eaves and Western-style body are the most prominent features of the campus architecture. In addition to the architecture, the campus greenery is also a highlight. There are ancient trees and lawns and flower beds. Compared to ordinary parks, the East China University of Political Science and Law campus is full of architectural aesthetics, integrating academics and nature, extending history and youth, combining progress and tranquility, and giving people an infinite sense of peace and beauty.
