Originally, it was a place where rituals were held to worship the heavens during the Joseon Dynasty, and it was also where Emperor Gojong held his coronation ceremony after proclaiming the Korean Empire. Now, most of it has disappeared, leaving only Hwangungu and some stone artifacts.
