Title: Pune – A City of Culture, Campuses, and Calm Vibes

#cityplaybook #familytrip #localguides #historicallandmarks #postandearn Pune, often referred to as the Oxford of the East, took me by surprise. It’s a city of students, startups, and serenity—all rolled into one. As I wandered through its leafy boulevards, historic landmarks, and cozy cafés, I realized that Pune isn’t a place you just visit—it’s a place you feel. My journey started at the Shaniwar Wada, once the seat of the mighty Peshwas. Though now in ruins, the massive gates and sprawling courtyards whisper stories of Maratha valor and grandeur. Nearby, I explored the bustling lanes of Laxmi Road and Tulshibaug, where the scent of street food mingled with the colorful chaos of traditional shopping. Aga Khan Palace was a serene contrast—its sprawling gardens and colonial architecture offered a peaceful retreat, made even more powerful by its connection to India’s freedom movement. Walking the same halls where Mahatma Gandhi once stayed was humbling. Food in Pune is a full-on experience. From spicy Misal Pav and buttery Vada Pav to upscale international cuisine at Koregaon Park, every meal was memorable. I especially loved the vibe at FC Road—a blend of street eats, bookstores, and student energy. For nature lovers, Sinhagad Fort is just a short drive away. I hiked early in the morning and was rewarded with misty views, cool breeze, and piping hot kanda bhaji (onion fritters) at the top. A must-do for anyone visiting Pune. What truly stood out to me was the city’s intellectual and creative pulse. Whether at cultural spots like Pune Okayama Friendship Garden, vibrant music festivals, or art cafés, Pune felt alive with expression and ideas. Best Time to Visit October to February – Cool, breezy weather and great for outdoor activities. Helpful Tips Use rickshaws or auto apps for short trips; Pune traffic can be unpredictable. Local bakeries like Kayani Bakery are legendary—don’t leave without trying their Shrewsbury biscuits. Carry cash for small eateries and local shopping.
