The Chinese Southern Gate with Customs Functionality - Friendship Pass

Friendship Pass is located at the southwestern end of Pingxiang City, Guangxi, where National Highway 322 connects with Vietnam's A1 Highway. Since the Han Dynasty, this place has been a frontier fortress, previously named Yongji Pass, Jiling Pass, Zhenyi Pass, and Zhennan Pass. After liberation, it was also called Munan Pass, and it was officially named 'Friendship Pass' in 1965. In 1885, Feng Zicai led the Qing army to achieve the 'Great Victory at Zhennan Pass' here; in 1907, Sun Yat-sen launched the 'Zhennan Pass Uprising' at Jinjiling; on December 11, 1949, the People's Liberation Army hoisted the five-star red flag at Friendship Pass, declaring the liberation of the entire Guangxi region... If you have an electric vehicle, you can park in the ground parking lot, which has plenty of charging stations. 👍️ Must-Visit Attractions: 【Friendship Pass Tower】Rebuilt in 1957, covering an area of 180 square meters and standing 22 meters high. The base is 23 meters long, 15.9 meters wide, and 10 meters high, with three floors built above the base. The road to Vietnam passes through the single-arched gate. The three characters 'Friendship Pass' on the marble plaque were inscribed by Chen Yi, then Vice Premier and Foreign Minister of the State Council. Currently, the interior hosts exhibitions related to diplomacy and military affairs at Friendship Pass. 【French-style Building】Built in 1914, designed by a French engineer, it was the office location of the 'Zhennan Pass Post Station Sub-office' in Pingxiang, responsible for border diplomacy and maintaining border security. The interior currently simulates the office environment of that time and displays the history of the South Pass. 【Ancient City Wall】Extends from the Friendship Pass Tower to both sides, imposing in momentum. However, cameras easily capture the surrounding customs scenes, so no photos are provided.
