Mount Kongtong, the premier mountain of Taoism in China

Mount Kongtong, this magnificent peak located 15 kilometers west of the Kongtong District in Pingliang City, Gansu Province, spans a vast area. It starts from the eastern Taizong Mountain's Erdao Gully and Huapao Ridge, as well as the Liushu Gully in the Jing River area, and extends all the way to the border of Jingyuan County in Ningxia to the west. To the south, it reaches the Dayin Mountains and Shiwan Gully, and to the north, it extends to the Daxiang Mountain. The total area reaches 83.6 square kilometers, with the main peak soaring into the clouds at an altitude of 2123.3 meters. On this magical land, people have discovered precious ancient biological fossils such as trilobites and graptolites, which quietly tell the tales of the Earth from hundreds of millions of years ago. Weathered by the elements over time, Mount Kongtong has been sculpted by differential weathering, water erosion, and collapse, forming unique geological features such as the stone pillar forest and Danxia landforms on the Loess Plateau, as well as geological structure relics. It presents a unique and enchanting charm, not only offering high aesthetic value but also serving as a precious site for scientific researchers exploring the mysteries of the Earth. Mount Kongtong is geographically advantageous, looking east to the ancient capital Xi'an, connecting to the historical and cultural city of Lanzhou to the west, neighboring Baoji to the south, and reaching Yinchuan to the north, which is known as 'Jiangnan beyond the Great Wall.' Since ancient times, it has been an important node on the Silk Road leading out of the Guanzhong region. With its unique natural scenery and profound cultural heritage, Mount Kongtong has earned many accolades such as 'The Foremost Mountain in the West,' 'The Marvel of the West,' and 'The Peerless Beauty of Mount Kongtong.' It has become a coveted tourist destination for countless visitors.
