Phimai Historical Park

Phimai Historical Park is an ancient Khmer-style stone castle in the Bapuan style, located in Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It consists of large and beautiful stone castles from the Khmer Empire. It was built during the reign of King Suryavarman I around the 16th Buddhist century as a temple for the Brahman religion and later changed to Mahayana Buddhism. Phimai Stone Castle was built based on the belief in heaven and the human world. The layout of Phimai Stone Castle is similar to Mount Sumeru. There is a main castle in the center of the temple, which is like a connection between the world and heaven. Phimai Stone Castle is the largest stone castle in Thailand.
