Japan Travel Review Osaka: A Magic of Cuteness That Will Melt Your Heart If someone asks us, “What is Japan to you?” We would probably smile before answering, “Japan is a good feeling that you can walk, eat, and take beautiful pictures from every angle.” … And one of the cutest cities that we want to go back to often is Osaka, a city that seems to have pastel hearts hidden in every alley. From the first step the plane touched down, Kansai Airport seemed strangely warm, even though the air conditioning was cool and the lights looked ordinary, but my heart just swelled up. Maybe it was because of excitement or maybe it was because we had been waiting for this trip for a long time, I’m not sure. Osaka is not as sparkling as Tokyo, nor is it as peaceful as Kyoto. But Osaka is a city with its own unique charm. It’s Japan that smiles at us first, a close friend who doesn’t even have to dress up to look cute. ⸻ 🌸 Laughter and neon lights Osaka in Dotonbori area is the ultimate positive energy of this trip. The neon lights of the Glico store sign were dancing on the building walls as if they were smiling and greeting us, “Welcome!” This place was filled with laughter, people were walking around lively but not too busy. It was an incredibly warm and organized chaos. There were cheers from a takoyaki shop, and the aroma wafted up to my nose. As a foodie, I didn't hesitate. I tried everything from takoyaki with lots of toppings stuffed with large squid, okonomiyaki that was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the super cute dessert, green tea soft serve ice cream, served in a cone with a little bear design. Just looking at it made my blood sugar spike! ⸻ 🏯 The warmth of a big castle Of course, if you come to Osaka, how could you not stop by Osaka Castle? I'm not really a history buff. But when I stood in front of the white and gold castle standing tall in the middle of a green garden like this, my heart felt indescribably peaceful. We walked around the castle, stopping to take pictures with the cherry trees that still had some flowers left. The atmosphere was dreamy, like walking in my favorite anime. Every angle was so beautiful that I wanted to keep pressing the shutter. Then I sent myself a postcard back home. ⸻ 🎡 Happiness revolves around Universal. Another highlight that awakens the child in us is Universal Studios Japan (USJ). It's like another world that takes us into a cartoon. Every step is a dream. Both the world of Harry Potter with Hogwarts standing tall, the fragrant pumpkin juice that we intended not to drink because we were afraid of the price, but in the end we gave up because it looked too cute to resist. Walking a little further, we found Minion Park, which was bright beyond words. Everything was designed to make us smile even without talking. Even though it was so crowded that we had to wait in line for a long time, we felt that time passed very quickly because the whole time we were there... our hearts were filled with happiness. ⸻ 🚇 Train...with the sound of our hearts beating softly Traveling in Osaka is simple but warm. The bright red Midosuji Line takes us almost everywhere. The Japanese announcements that we can't understand sound cute every time we hear them. Sometimes, riding the train in Osaka makes us want to spend more time doing nothing than we think. There's nothing to do but listen to the sound of the train wheels dragging across the tracks, see Japanese people dressed cutely, holding lunch boxes in their hands. Some people read books, some people fall asleep on the seats lightly. Sometimes… we smile to ourselves ⸻ 🍙 Convenience stores are an oasis in the city Another thing we love in Japan is Convenience Stores like 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Lawson. They are like friends on every corner. On days when we are tired from walking or waiting in line, just stopping by makes us feel better. Rice balls with various fillings that are wrapped well and taste delicious without much explanation. Smooth egg pudding or cold green tea that is so refreshing that you forget the hot weather are small treasures that make us feel that “being here is so good.” ⸻ 📸 Memories in the camera and stories in our hearts The photos in our cameras are full of bright colors, soft sunlight falling on our hair, images of tall buildings, blue skies, and the laughter of our friends who go together. But the images that no camera can capture are the good feelings that we keep in our hearts. Osaka is not just a tourist city, but a city that makes us feel that “The cuteness of the world still exists.” It is a place where even if we get lost we always feel safe. It's a place where even if you don't meet anyone you know, but everyone seems to always smile at us. ⸻ 🎀 A cute summary from this trip Osaka may not be the biggest or most magnificent city in Japan. But for us...Osaka is happiness in a tangible form. It's a feeling that says, "Life is so good, to have found a place like this." If anyone is hesitating whether to go to Osaka, I'd like you to open your mind once. Then you'll know that... sometimes, happiness doesn't have to be far.
