Australia Pavilion at the Osaka Expo: A Visitor's Guide to Exploring and Enjoying Australian Cuisine

The Australia Pavilion, themed "Chasing the Sun," draws inspiration from the native eucalyptus plant. Its design features smooth, curved structures and dynamic color tones, symbolizing Australia's natural vitality and cultural diversity. The pavilion's vibrant exterior represents the blooming of eucalyptus seed pods. It uses a soft, flexible, and translucent fabric that captures the changing light throughout the day, allowing visitors to connect with nature during their experience. In line with eco-friendly principles, the pavilion's structure incorporates steel frames previously used in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. By utilizing minimal building materials and translucent architectural enclosures, the pavilion significantly reduces waste and energy consumption. Outside the pavilion entrance, the cultural forecourt area was designed by landscape architects McGregor Coxall. This space is envisioned as a welcoming gathering place where music, theater, dance, and screen programs are situated alongside circular conversation zones for social interaction. Inside the pavilion, the exhibition continues the landscape concept with a "Bushwalk" experience.
