[Osaka Prefecture/Hifuku Toki Shrine] A shrine where ceramic lanterns are placed

Ikasuri Shrine is the Ichinomiya of Settsu Province. There is a rare shrine within the shrine grounds that you don't see very often. Its name is "Hibuse Pottery Shrine." Long ago, there were over 200 pottery wholesalers on both sides of the street from Sujigai Bridge to Yotsubashi Bridge in the south, and the shrine was enshrined as the guardian deity of the area. It was originally located in Utsubo Minami-dori 1-chome, Nishi Ward, but was moved to Ikasuri Shrine at the end of the Meiji period due to road expansion for the laying of streetcars! The enshrined deities are Otogi-no-kami and Kagutsuchi. The reason for the name "Hibuse" is that at the time, pottery merchants handled large amounts of straw to protect their pottery. They would pray to Jizo Bodhisattva out of fear of fire. Remnants of the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism remain to this day. There are beautiful blue-painted lanterns on both sides, and looking up above the shrine building, you can see a plate with the history of the shrine written on it.
