Ollantaytambo ruins

#AprilGoodDestinations2025 Ollantaytambo is a town on the Urubamba River in the Cusco Region of Peru, and is also an Inca archaeological site. During the Inca period, this place was a royal estate, granary and sacrificial center. This is also a military fortress. When Spain conquered Peru, the rebels took advantage of the terrain and released water from high places to flood the plains, thus repelling the Spaniards. Although the victory was short-lived, it left a legend for Ollantaytambo. Climb up the stairs to the top of the castle, and you can see the entire town of Ollantaytambo. The former granary on the opposite mountain and two rock walls that resemble human faces are clearly visible.
