Nakasue Valley: A Hidden Paradise Worth the Two-Hour Journey!

Starting from Kochi Station, I took a train and then transferred to a bus, spending over two hours to finally arrive at Nakasue Valley. This marked the beginning of my quest to witness the famous "Niyodo Blue"—a term coined by a photographer to describe the crystal-clear blue-green waters of the Niyodo River. Following the park's walking trails, I passed through caves, climbed over rocks, and crossed stone bridges. If you're worried about the difficulty of the path, rest assured—it’s quite manageable, with wooden walkways and steps provided. Along the way, you'll encounter cascading waterfalls, towering stone pillars as tall as two stories, moss-covered deadwood and rocks, and large boulders resting in the stream. The scenery is breathtaking. Listening to the gentle sound of flowing water while gazing at the pristine stream is truly refreshing. The allure of Niyodo Blue is captivating. The stream looks even more stunning under sunlight, so it’s best to start your journey in the morning. 2. From Kochi Station, take the JR train to Sakawa Station, then board the Kuroiwa Sightseeing Bus heading to "Kawado." Get off at "Naganokawa" Station, cross the road, and walk along the sloped driveway to reach the valley entrance. 3. Buses may occasionally stop running or skip certain stops during specific times. It’s highly recommended to visit the tourist center (there’s a large one right next to Kochi Station) to inquire about transportation routes and bus schedules in advance.
