Known as the "First Ancient County Town in Jiangnan," it has a history of over 2,500 years of city establishment and more than 1,200 years as a county town. It still retains the unique layout of "one street, one river, double checkerboard" from the Tang Dynasty Chang'an City. In the 26th year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty (738 AD), the county magistrate Fang Guan moved the county seat to its current location and rebuilt it following the layout of the ancient capital Chang'an. Until 1954, this was the seat of Cixi County. Cicheng County Government Office: Built in the 26th year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty (738 AD), it has been rebuilt multiple times throughout history. The current structure is reconstructed according to detailed maps from the Guangxu period county records. It contains relics such as Tang Dynasty brick-paved corridors. Cicheng Confucius Temple: Built in the 8th year of the Qingli era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1048 AD), it is the best-preserved Confucius Temple/Academy in eastern Zhejiang. Xiaoshi Hall: Known among locals as the "Examination Shed," it was the venue for the imperial civil service examinations, showcasing the ancient imperial examination system.
