Ningbo | The top choice for a city staycation, great food, great accommodation, and a great location

Last weekend was windy, perfect weather for a hotel stay. I chose a hotel with great food, great accommodation, and a great location. Spent two relaxing days and nights eating, drinking, and swimming. ✌🏻 🏨 Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo 📍 Ningbo City Center! 🚗 2 hours from Hangzhou 🚄 15 minutes by taxi from Ningbo Railway Station 🛏️ I recommend the river-view room. The view is first-class, directly facing the confluence of the three rivers. You can enjoy the night view and light show from your room. The welcome fruit and snacks were a pleasant surprise, and the card added a touch of ceremony. Baby crib rails are available. Also, the room windows can be opened for ventilation, which is rare for high-rise hotels. Thumbs up! They also have family rooms❗️They look great, I want to try them next time. ☕️ I booked a room with Horizon Club access, so I could check in while enjoying afternoon tea on the 28th floor, avoiding the wait. The Horizon Club is Shangri-La's executive lounge, with a two-story atrium and great views. The entire hotel has an old-money vibe, classic but not outdated, with luxury and taste reflected in the details. Orchids are placed throughout the hotel, including in the rooms, which is very pleasing to the eye. 🛝 The Ning Ou Paradise on the second floor is not big, but it has slides, a ball pit, and swings, enough for toddlers. We went four times in two days. There are also parent-child classes every weekend with a variety of craft activities. 🏊‍♀️ The pool is great! The temperature is perfect, and there are few people. There is a small shallow pool, 0.6m deep, just right for children to play in the water. My two kids loved it and went swimming for two days in a row. The lifeguard at the pool was the most responsible I've ever seen. He kept a close watch on our little ones the whole time. Thank you very much. 🍴 Horizon Club access includes happy hour, where you can also have light meals. But having heard so much about the Shangri-La buffet, I had to try it. We went to dinner after swimming at 7 pm, and the selection was still very impressive. I have to say, it's Shangri-La, the buffet really lives up to its reputation! There's a huge variety of à la carte dishes, pan-fried cod, pan-fried foie gras, steak, grilled scallops, etc., as well as hot pot and barbecue. The lamb skewers were delicious! The hot pot featured fresh Wagyu beef. I had several plates of beef tenderloin and short ribs, so satisfying. The food supply was plentiful, with salmon piled high. There were too many dessert options, including freshly made soufflés and pancakes. I only wish I had a bigger stomach! I ate until I couldn't walk. 🍳 Breakfast was also at the Horizon Club, so we didn't have to go to the crowded buffet restaurant. After being seated, you can look at the menu and order first; freshly made dishes take some time. Since I ate so well at the buffet the night before, I didn't have much of an appetite for breakfast. I only ordered Eggs Benedict and French toast, which were delicious and rich. Shangri-La's pastries are really good, the nama chocolate and pretzels are amazing! ⛪️ Nearby attractions: The location is excellent, very convenient to go anywhere. K11 is downstairs, and Tianyi Square and the Old Bund are across the street, all within walking distance. Tianyi Pavilion and Moon Lake Park are also very close. After dinner, we took a walk to the Old Bund to see the light show at the Catholic Church. Summary: The top choice for a Ningbo city walk 💯
