Baoguo Temple

Baoguo Temple is located at the foot of Lingshan in Hongtang Town, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It was first built during the reign of Emperor Shizu of the Eastern Han Dynasty and was initially named Lingshan Temple, which is the predecessor of Baoguo Temple. Baoguo Temple is not famous for its religious temple, but for its exquisite and unparalleled architectural craftsmanship. The Daxiong Treasure Hall (also known as the Beamless Hall) in the temple is one of the oldest and best-preserved wooden structures south of the Yangtze River, with the Daxiong Treasure Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Tang Dynasty Sutra Pillar, Guanyin Hall, Pure Land Pool and other ancient temple buildings. The unique design makes the structure of the hall extremely scientific. In addition to keeping the air circulating to prevent the hall from forming cobwebs and accumulating dust, and keeping it clean all year round, the entire hall does not use a single nail, but relies on the clever connection between the bucket arches and the precise mortise and tenon technology to firmly combine all the components together, supporting the roof of the entire hall with a weight of more than 50 tons.
