Tengwang Pavilion

Tengwang Pavilion is located on Yanjiang Road, Donghu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It is situated on the east bank of the Ganjiang River, at the confluence of the Ganjiang River and the old course of the Fuhe River. It is a landmark building in Nanchang City and a symbol of the ancient Yuzhang civilization. It was first built in the fourth year of the Yonghui era of the Tang Dynasty (653 AD) by Li Yuanying, the younger brother of Emperor Taizong of Tang, when he was the governor of Hongzhou in Jiangnan. The current building is a reconstruction from 1985. It is famous for the prose "Preface to Tengwang Pavilion" written by the early Tang poet Wang Bo. Together with Yueyang Tower in Yueyang, Hunan, and Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, Hubei, it is known as one of the "Three Great Towers of Jiangnan" and is one of the four great towers of ancient China. The main building of Tengwang Pavilion is 57.5 meters high, with a construction area of 13,000 square meters. Its lower part is a 12-meter-high platform symbolizing the ancient city wall, divided into two levels. The main pavilion above the platform follows the "three bright and seven dark" format, with three floors and a corridor, and a total of seven floors inside, including three bright floors, three dark floors, and an attic. The ridge chiwen is a special imitation of the Song Dynasty, 3.5 meters high. Tengwang Pavilion is a 5A-rated paid attraction. It is accessible by bus and subway, and the night view is even more beautiful. Visitors over 60 years old can take the elevator to the top floor for free.
