[Korea Travel Check-in] Hidden Gem for Autumn Foliage Viewing: Mungyeong Korea has many mountainous areas, especially in the central region. If you've ever taken a bus between Seoul and Busan, you'll be impressed by the layers of mountains in between – that's Mungyeong. This area is a transportation hub, but the terrain is steep. In the past, it was a vital route for merchants, and now, thanks to well-preserved forests, it's a great place for Koreans to enjoy the autumn foliage. Whether you're in Seoul or Busan, it takes about two hours to get here by car, so unless you're traveling with a group, driving can be quite tiring. I joined a one-day tour to Mungyeong this time, and I'd like to share the itinerary with you. Three-hour drive to Gomo Mountain Fortress to see the ruins of the local military fortress. Hike to the Omija Theme Tunnel (renovated from an old mine tunnel, mostly artificial paintings, suitable for families with children, requires tickets, not recommended to visit specifically, nor is it recommended to buy any Omija products inside). Take a bus to Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park. There are many apple stalls along the road, selling varieties like Fuji and Golden Delicious, as well as agricultural product markets where you can buy locally made soy sauce, soybean paste, and Omija rice wine. Nearby, we had a set meal of grilled ginseng and grilled medicinal pork, which are considered local specialties. Hike to the Old Road Museum to see the evolution of various local transportation routes.
