Good places to go in September｜Marseille Cathedral

#Great Places in September 2024 Marseille Cathedral is a Byzantine-Romanesque style Roman Catholic church located on the coast of the Joliette district, north of the Old Port of Marseille. The building has a majestic appearance and exquisite interior decoration. The existing cathedral (Nouvelle Major) was built between 1852 and 1896 on a large scale by Léon Vaudois and Henri-Jacques Espérendieu. Since the 5th century AD, this location has been the site of Marseille's cathedral. Compared with the ruins of the old cathedral (Vieille Major) next to it, the new cathedral is even more spectacular. Most of the old cathedral has been demolished, and only part of it remains.
