Sharing on hotels in the suburbs of Marseille

Located in a rocky bay on the outskirts of Marseille, Les Goudes is a quiet fishing village away from the hustle and bustle of the French Riviera. It’s a 30-minute drive along the coast road from the port city, but the village still feels like the end of the world, especially because the road actually ends here. Ahead is the Calanques National Park, a 20-kilometre stretch of limestone cliffs known as the Calanques, with a dramatic topography that resembles turquoise fjords. No wonder Marseille entrepreneur Grégory Gassa and filmmaker Fabrice Denizot chose this place to open Tuba Club, a sophisticated hotel and restaurant conceived as a "hideout for friends, lovers of laziness and ardent defenders of relaxation". The building was originally built about a century ago as a "hut" or fishing shack at the entrance to the village, and operated as a hotel in the 1940s, a nightclub in the 1970s and a diving club in the 1980s, according to oceanographer Jacques. Cousteau and record-breaking diver Jacques. Maillol once lingered there - Maillol's life story is in Luc. It was fictionalized in Besson's iconic film "The Big Blue". The building had been abandoned for years, and when Gassa, Denizot and Mailaender discovered the property a few years ago, it had been battered by storms. The team worked with Marseille architect Delphine André to thoughtfully renovate the home, which takes in views of the sea from both its humble origins and its location on the coastline. For the building's exterior, local beige stone and white wooden cladding were chosen for their ability to withstand the elements presented by the village's harbour wall and the fishing boats swaying in the bay. Taking inspiration from the rustic simplicity of the region’s fishing huts and Irene. Gray and Le. Le Corbusier drew inspiration from his modernist beach hut at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, and the remodeled interiors are a prime example of soulful minimalism. In the restaurant, soft tones of whitewashed walls, stone floors and white wooden furniture are complemented by rattan and ceramic decor; the stark minimalist scheme allows the vibrant dishes and dreamy sea views to take centre stage. In the five adjacent cabin-style rooms, plywood paneling, jute rugs and white bed linens infuse the space with warmth, while vintage postcards from Avignon and Marseille flea markets, diving books, seashells and ceramic lamps inject personality without subverting its minimalist sensibility.
