Stone-built streets of Mardin

About two hours by plane from Istanbul, in southeastern Turkey, there is a city called Mardin, famous for its stone construction. The city is formed on a rocky mountain, from which you can see the vast plains toward northern Syria (I was looking at the view while having breakfast from the terrace of the hotel). There are also several travel agencies in the area, which offer tours to nearby ruins and churches, as well as the nearby town of Midyat. Perhaps because it is close to the Syrian border, it tends to have an image of being dangerous, but when I visited at the end of 2023, the city was bustling with local tourists.
