Diverse Choices at the Hotel Lobby

Lobby Lounge at Grand Lisboa Palace may not be large, but it offers a variety of international cuisines to cater to the tastes of different diners (or gamblers). I still remember visiting late last year when the hotel featured a Snoopy theme. There were many adorable Snoopy-themed dishes, and even Snoopy figurines accompanied you during your meal. A few months later, I returned for some "grown-up food"! As usual, everyone ordered their preferred dishes and shared if they liked. My choice was Taiwanese-style duck leg noodles. The soup had a hint of herbal aroma, and the duck leg was quite sizable. However, the noodles resembled rice noodles more than the traditional Taiwanese-style noodles I had expected. Still, the dish was overall well-executed. Another dish was Hainanese roasted chicken, typically served with oil rice. If you're like my mom and don't enjoy oil rice, you can opt for plain rice instead. I only tried two pieces of the roasted chicken, which had crispy skin and tender meat. Paired with the three dipping sauces, it was quite satisfying. The stir-fried beef rice noodles with egg was a wet-style dish. The noodles were evenly stir-fried, and the quality of the beef was excellent—tender and not overly chewy. My dad's choice, the pork skin and char siu rice noodles, was less impressive. The pork skin seemed lightly fried but lacked texture, while the char siu and roasted pork were thinly sliced, resembling Malaysian-style cuts. However, my dad found them tough. The highlight of the dish was the rice noodles underneath. Moving on to Western options, the burger patty was thick and juicy, maintaining a good texture without being overly dense. I appreciated the generous portion of salad greens, which made the dish feel less indulgent. The beverage selection was equally diverse. You can even find Malaysian white coffee, but I opted for a latte for a more classic choice.
