Wat Longkun, Chom Phet Province

Wat Long Khun is an ancient temple that is assumed to have been a forest temple before. This temple is an important temple related to the coronation ceremony of the kings, many of whom were ordained here before ascending to the throne. Until the reign of the last two kings and the Crown Prince, there was a change of government in 1975, so this tradition was abolished. Outside the ordination hall on the east side of the temple, there are stairs leading down to the Mekong River all the way. The stairs offer a beautiful panoramic view of Luang Prabang from the mouth of the Khan River where it meets the Mekong River, Wat Xieng Thong, the Royal Palace of Luang Prabang and That Phousi. #historicculture
