Yanyiwei-a refuge in troubled times

Yanyiwei is located in Yangcun Town, Longnan City, Ganzhou City. It was first built in the third year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty and completed in the seventh year of Daoguang. It is the largest, best-preserved, most functional and representative dwelling among the Hakka enclosed houses in southern Jiangxi. It integrates residences, ancestral halls, castles, and academies, and can also be used as a fortified city during times of war. A half-moon pool was dug directly in front of the gate, symbolizing wealth gathering. The Half-Moon Pond is connected to the pond outside the east wall, forming a water barrier, which is also conducive to the military defense of the new wall.
