50th birthday celebrations

With only 18 hours in Leicester for birthday celebrations this was always going to be a whistle stop overnight visit. After checking in at the Gresham in the evening and quickly getting spruced up, first stop was to Mowgli’s Street Food for a delicious meal served in tiffin tins. There were 8 of us in the party and we were sharing, so was able to try lots of the dishes. We then returned to the Gresham for drinks and a blather (now I’m 50 and all grown up, I do appreciate the chat without having to shout!). Lovely ambiance and friendly staff. Then, after some of the group made their way home, the rest of us went to the firebug. Pleased to find not much has changed in 25 years; everyone is welcome and anything goes. After a reviving sleep in the VERY comfortable hotel room we met with family for brunch at Crafty burger. This place has great options for breakfast, catering for vegetarian and vegan diets. I went for the mushroom hash which was lovely. Highly recommend all the places we visited.
