Wuzhen Temple, one of the ancestral temples of the Pure Land Sect of Chinese Buddhism, has a construction history dating back to before the Western Jin Dynasty. The high monk Jingye built it by imperial decree, and it was officially named 'Wuzhen Temple'. By the early Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, it had expanded to include both upper and lower courtyards. The temple is built on the northern foothills of Zhongnan Mountain, with steep cliffs, winding streams, lush forests, and flying waterfalls. It has been known as the 'Holy Place of Immortals' since ancient times. 👍👍👍 The Great Buddha Hall in Xiawuzhen Temple features flying beams and painted rafters. Inside the hall, there is a large reclining Buddha made of clay, with a serene expression and a radiant Buddha light. It is the second largest painted clay reclining Buddha in the world today. One is the North Gate, with an entrance fee of 20 yuan, a gentle slope, and a long path, taking about 40 minutes to reach the ancient temple. The other is the East Gate, free of charge, with a steep slope and a short path, taking about 20 minutes to reach the ancient temple. Both routes are very quiet, shaded by greenery, and exceptionally refreshing.
