Japanese Mount Koya Day Trip

#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025 Koyasan, a sacred Buddhist site in northern Wakayama Prefecture, is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site known as the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Route in the Kii Mountains" and boasts historical, cultural, and natural beauty. A mountain range with an altitude of about 1,000 meters located in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, belonging to Koya Town, Ito District. In the 7th year of the Kōnin period during the Heian period, Kōbō Daishi Kukai practiced Buddhism here and established Kongōbuji Temple, which later became the head temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect.
