Mitsugi Shrine in Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 It is said that the shrine was founded in the Tensho era (1573-1592) when a monk who fled Mount Hiei after Oda Nobunaga burned it down in 1571 enshrined Hiyoshi Sanno Gongen here. Known as "Saru no Omiya" (Monkey Shrine), this shrine, which worships monkeys as divine messengers, has countless stone statues of monkeys enshrined within its grounds. There are several orange-colored monkeys, and it is said that by applying vermilion powder called goshu to the stone statues, you will receive good fortune if you come into contact with that part of the statue.
