Maoshan is a national 5A scenic spot, a famous Taoist mountain. When I went to Jurong, I took the opportunity to visit it. Historically, Maoshan has had countless connections with Taoism. As early as the Western Han Dynasty, Taoist priests settled here. During the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang designated Maoshan as the 'Shangqing Blessed Land'. It is now known as the 'First Blessed Land' and the 'Eighth Cave Heaven' in Taoism. There are shuttle buses from Jurong to Maoshan, which are essentially public buses. There are indeed many people, and you have to stand from the beginning to the end. The bus stops right at the entrance of the scenic area, and the return trip is also from here. At the foot of the mountain, you can buy tickets to take a bus directly to the top. You can also take a bus down later, or walk if you prefer, which saves energy. Taoist Elements Maoshan is indeed a Taoist blessed land. The Jiuxiao Wanfugong (Top Palace) at the top of the mountain was built in the Western Han Dynasty and is a great place to view the mountain scenery. The Yuanfu Wannian Palace halfway up the mountain houses the statue of Laozi on the cover. The Taoist temple was built in the Tang Dynasty and is the largest Taoist temple in Maoshan. Chongxi Wanshou Palace, the venue for the Fifth International Taoist Forum, is a new project rebuilt in 2016. There is also Huayang Cave, a small karst cave, which adds to the overall experience. Tickets The entrance fee for the scenic area is 100 yuan, and the transportation within the scenic area is 35 yuan. Some small attractions require you to show your ticket, so be sure to keep it safe. It takes about 3 hours to walk through the entire area. If you are interested in Taoism, it is recommended to visit. The cultural and historical aspects outweigh the natural scenery.
