The third stop of the Northwest tour—Jiayuguan.

Depart from Zhangye and pass through Jiuquan City to reach Jiayuguan City. Jiayuguan is known as the "First and Greatest Pass under Heaven" and is located in the west, while Shanhaiguan is located in the east. Jiayuguan was built 9 years earlier than Shanhaiguan. Enter from the tourist center, pass through Jiuyanquan and Fengsheng Statue, and arrive at the east gate and the outer city. After passing through the "Chaizong Gate", enter the east urn city, which is the inner city. The city is surrounded by walls on all four sides to prevent the entrance to the "First and Greatest Pass under Heaven". The city tower is located in the urn city. The idiom "catching turtles in the urn" comes from here. There is a martial arts field under the tower. Go up the city tower from the horse road, look far to the north to see the Black Mountain, and look far to the south to see the Qilian Mountain. Jiayuguan is guarded in the middle. There are three city towers in total. The Huiji Gate is located in the west urn city. It is said that when it was built, there was an extra brick placed on the back of the Huiji Tower in the west urn city, which can be seen now. Then you will arrive at the Jiayuguan Gate and the Jiayuguan City Tower. After visiting the city, there are camels to ride outside. Take a sightseeing bus back to the tourist center. The city is 8 kilometers away from the Hanging Great Wall, and you need to drive or take a taxi. The current Hanging Great Wall was repaired in 1987. To go to the "First Pier under Heaven", you need to take a taxi. The "First Pier under Heaven" is the starting point of the Great Wall. There is also a Great Wall Museum here, which introduces the Black Mountain and Qilian Mountain. Leave and head to Dunhuang, and you will see Heishan Lake at the foot of the Black Mountain.
