🇸🇦Jeddah Located on the west coast of Saudi Arabia, near the Red Sea, Jeddah is one of the Kingdom's most open-minded cities. The city exudes a clean, elegant atmosphere, and the mild winter weather made for a pleasant stroll. A sophisticated Red Sea port city 🌊✨ Jeddah is also known as the "Gateway to Saudi Arabia," and has historically developed as an international port city, frequented by pilgrims and traders. As a result, it has a more relaxed atmosphere than other cities, and I felt like a city where different cultures intersect. The winter weather was truly comfortable. Temperatures hovered around 20°C, and although there was sunshine, the humidity was low and the air was dry. It was a pleasant walk along the Red Sea, feeling the sea breeze. A leisurely stroll overlooking the Red Sea 🚶♂️ 📍 Jeddah Corniche 🌅 This promenade stretches along Jeddah's coast. It's the perfect place to stroll and enjoy the Red Sea, especially at sunset. Families and couples are relaxing here, and the atmosphere is serene. This spot also offers a view of King Fahd's Fountain! Boasting one of the world's tallest fountains (approximately 300 meters), it's lit up at night, creating a magical atmosphere. 📍 Al-Balad 🏛️ Jeddah's historic district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The maze-like cobblestone alleys are lined with buildings featuring distinctive wooden balconies known as "Roshans." Many former merchant mansions remain, giving a real sense of Arabian history. The aroma of spices and Arabic coffee wafts through the air at the souks, where locals mingle, creating an exotic atmosphere. 📍 Jeddah Mosque Tour 🕌 The Floating Mosque (Al Rahma Mosque), located along the Red Sea, is particularly impressive. Its design makes it appear as if it is floating on the water, creating a beautiful contrast between the blue of the Red Sea and the white of the mosque. After sunset, the mosque is lit up, creating a mystical atmosphere. Food Experience in Jeddah 🍽️ 🇸🇦 Mandi 🍖🍚 A traditional dish of spiced lamb or chicken served over steamed rice. The meat was tender, and the aroma of the spices was exquisite and delicious. The portions were generous at a local restaurant, leaving me completely satisfied! ☕ Arabic Coffee (Gahwa) ☕ In Saudi Arabia, it's typically enjoyed with dates. It has a unique, spicy flavor that's completely different from Japanese coffee. The style of drinking it in small cups, multiple times, is distinctive. 🍞 Sambusa 🥟 It's like a Middle Eastern version of samosa. Filled with minced meat and vegetables, it was the perfect snack. Impressions & Summary of Jeddah ✅ The open atmosphere along the Red Sea was pleasant. ✅ The coexistence of the historic streets of the old city and modern buildings was interesting. ✅ It's a relatively liberal city in Saudi Arabia, and easy to navigate. ✅ I enjoyed Arabic cuisine and coffee culture, and spending time overlooking the Red Sea was exceptional. It was a trip that allowed me to fully experience "a port city where Middle Eastern history and modern culture intersect."
