"Binbin" is the mascot representing ice sports, wearing winter sportswear, a red scarf, blue gloves, and ice skates, joyfully skating. "Nini," snowboarding, is the mascot representing snow sports, wearing a traditional Chinese festive red coat with a fur collar, exuding a festive atmosphere. The name "Binbin" is derived from "Harbin," and "Nini" is derived from the pronunciation of "you" in Chinese, symbolizing "Harbin welcomes you," showcasing Harbin's warm anticipation and sincere welcome to friends from Asian countries. The strong, cute, enthusiastic, and festive overall image of "Binbin" and "Nini" symbolizes the athletes' strong bodies and resilient spirits at the Asian Winter Games, as well as the warm and hospitable nature of the people of Harbin. In traditional Chinese culture, the tiger is a symbol of good fortune, embodying many positive qualities, including "integrity," "strength," and "courage," which align closely with the Olympic spirit. "Binbin" and "Nini" are designed based on two adorable Siberian tiger cubs born in September 2023 at the Heilongjiang Siberian Tiger Park, cleverly blending the cute tiger image with Harbin's unique winter ice and snow culture and folk customs. The facial features of the mascots are inspired by traditional northern folk toys, the cloth tiger; the decorations on the ears and forehead draw from the visual language of Harbin's national intangible cultural heritage: Fangzheng paper-cutting; the iconic "king" character tiger stripes on the head and the patterns on the floral coat use "snowflake" shapes; the gloves feature the pattern of Harbin's city flower, the lilac. The overall design anthropomorphizes the "Siberian tiger" and integrates it with the Olympic spirit, showcasing cultural confidence, inspiring cultural vitality, and using excellent culture to tell China's story and spread China's voice.
