Zhejiang Haiyan Zhu Residence

Haiyan Zhu Residence, originally a private residence at No. 13 Daying Lane, is the ancestral home of the Zhu family, a prominent family in Haiyan, and the residence of Zhu Bingshou, the richest man in Haiyan at the end of the Qing Dynasty. It belongs to the "Shude Hall" and has a history of 170 years since its construction in the mid-Qing Dynasty. It has experienced several wars and suffered severe damage. The local government invested in its protective restoration in 2010. "According to the principle of restoring the old as the old, every detail is determined based on the historical materials, physical objects, and local similar related architectural features and data of the Zhu Residence, striving to retain historical information to the greatest extent." After the restoration, the Zhu Residence was restored to its original appearance and given a new name - "Dayin Jiangnan". The name "Dayin Jiangnan" comes from Haiyan's reputation as the "Best Slow Life Tourism City in the Yangtze River Delta", meaning hidden culture. When you walk into the Zhu Residence today, a hundred years of history unfolds before your eyes. The Zhu Residence is a typical Jiangnan residence, a two-entry brick and wood structure building with white walls and black tiles, simple and unadorned, with an inner garden. The walls are hung with some introductions to traditional crafts and displays of handicrafts. Passing through the small patio is the second entry, where traditional tea ceremony performances, folk performances, and other artistic displays are set up, showing a sense of tranquility and elegance. It is a key cultural relic in Haiyan County.
