Tainan Theological College: Step into a century-old European-style architectural gem.

Hidden within the alleys of Dongmen Road in Tainan City's East District lies a retro and elegant church-style architectural complex. Though often considered a private spot, it is actually a private educational institution known as the "Tainan Theological College," a place few people are aware of. Originally established as the Tainan Theological School, it is the oldest theological college in Taiwan, with its predecessor being the Fucheng University founded in 1876. Today, it is recognized as a historic site by Tainan City. The complex consists of three main buildings: the main hall, the chapel, and the dormitory. The main hall is a two-story brick structure with a roof covered in traditional Taiwanese tiles. Its pointed and rounded arch windows, along with the whitewashed exterior walls, blend Western religious architectural elements with Taiwanese regional characteristics. The chapel is designed in Romanesque style, featuring arched windows, rounded colonnades, a long rectangular hall, and a semi-circular altar. The west dormitory is arranged in an L-shape with the main building, connected by a corridor. The three buildings share a consistent color scheme and are arranged in a U-shape, connected by a cross-shaped pathway and a courtyard garden. This layout creates a serene and picturesque architectural landscape, exuding a distinctly European charm in photographs.
