Dingnan County, under the jurisdiction of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located on the southern border of Jiangxi Province. It is one of the settlements of the Hakka people, and it is the source area of the East River, a demonstration county for all-region tourism on the border of Jiangxi and Guangdong, a provincial-level safe county, one of the first batch of typical counties for football, an advanced unit for mass sports in the country, and a national science education demonstration county. The total area is 1,321 square kilometers. In the third year of the Longqing era of the Ming Dynasty (1569), the county was established by cutting off seven forts from Xinfeng, Longnan, and Anyuan. As of October 2021, Dingnan County governs 7 towns. The county government is located in Lishi Town. Dingnan is connected to the landscapes of Guangdong and has been the throat and commercial road between Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces since ancient times, known as the 'South Gate of Jiangxi'. The Ganyue Expressway, Ningding Expressway, Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and National Highways 238, 358, and 535 run through the territory.
