A Magical Day in Yarra Valley – Wine, Cheese & Gorgeous Views! 🍷🐄

If you’re visiting Melbourne, don’t miss a day trip to Yarra Valley — it’s only about an hour’s drive from the city, but it feels like a whole different world! We did this as part of our Melbourne trip in March 2025, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our journey. Here’s a glimpse into our Yarra Valley day itinerary: 📍1. Domaine Chandon • First stop and WOW 😍 • The sparkling wine tasting with a vineyard view was simply unforgettable • The garden and architecture are so elegant — even if you don’t drink, it’s worth visiting for the scenery 📍2. Yarra Valley Dairy 🧀 • Cute little shop with the best goat cheese we’ve ever tried • We bought a tasting box and had a mini picnic outside • You can see cows grazing nearby too – kids loved it! 📍3. Yering Station Winery • One of the oldest wineries in the valley • Friendly staff and lots of wines to try • The cellar door experience was really welcoming 📍4. Four Pillars Gin Distillery • If you prefer gin over wine, this place is a MUST! • Their tasting paddle and cocktails are so smooth • Great souvenir shop too – we brought back a bottle of Bloody Shiraz Gin 😍 📍5. Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery 🍫🍦 • Perfect last stop, especially if you’re with kids • Free chocolate tastings, gorgeous garden, and creamy gelato • Warning: you’ll want to buy everything! 🌤️ Weather in March: Cool and sunny – perfect for walking around vineyards and taking photos! Around 18–22°C, so just a light sweater was enough. 🚗 Getting There: We joined a small group tour for the day (booked via Trip.com). Comfortable ride, super friendly guide, and no worries about drinking & driving! ⸻ ✅ My Tips: • Book tastings ahead, especially for popular wineries • Wear comfy shoes — lots of walking around gardens & cellars • Bring a cooler bag if you’re buying cheese or chocolate to take back! • Even if you’re not a wine drinker, the views and food make it so worth it Yarra Valley is so much more than wine — it’s about the experience.
