Beijing - The Palace Museum

The Palace Museum is a breathtaking attraction that I would certainly recommend taking the time to see. I took a taxi from downtown Beijing but it’s also possible to get the metro. I would recommend going as early as possible! I travelled in the Chinese New Year holiday and didn’t arrived until lunchtime and it was very busy. The security queue took about an hour and then there were several more queues to check tickets before being admitted. Due to the sheer size of the palace, the crowds weren’t too disruptive once entered. You cannot get tickets on the day. You have to prebook them. I booked a week in advance using the mini programme on Wechat but I’m sure there are tour places available to help people book without using Wechat. I would recommend booking as early as possible if you are visiting on the weekend or a National holiday. It’s easy to spend the entire afternoon/morning here. It’s a labyrinth of beautiful temples and museums. There are small restaurants and gift shops on site. It’s also easy to visit Tianmen Square and Jingshan park as they are opposite (opposing ends) the attraction. #newyearadventure #china#beijing#palace#museum#history #

Step into Imperial Grandeur at The Palace Museum 🌟🏯 Discover the heart of ancient China at the Palace Museum (Forbidden City)—a sprawling royal complex that’s both jaw-dropping and full of secrets! Sure, crowds flock here, but its majestic halls and intricate art easily make up for it. 🗺️ Recommended Route: Enter through the Meridian Gate, then follow the central axis: Hall of Supreme Harmony → Hall of Central Harmony → Hall of Preserving Harmony. This hits all the architectural highlights! Circle out to the east and west wings after, for quieter corners and rare artifacts. 💡 Must-Do Experiences: Stand in the vast courtyard to absorb the scale, peek into select treasury halls, and spot the quirky nine-dragon screen. Don’t skip the Imperial Garden near the exit—a peaceful wrap-up to the royal tour. 📸 Top Photo Spots: Snap the classic panoramic shot just inside the main gate. Portraits across golden roofs with the inner halls behind are insta-worthy! The intricate doorways and stone bridges provide more unique angles away from the main crowd. 🎫 Practical Tips: Open Tuesday-Sunday; closed Mondays. Apr–Oct: 08:30–17:00 (last entry 16:00), Nov–Mar: 08:30–16:30 (last entry 15:30). Admission ¥60. Buy tickets online in advance—walk-ins sell out fast especially in peak season. Arrive early to beat the rush and enjoy a more relaxed pace. ⚠️ Key Precautions: Super crowded—expect strong selfie stick action! Comfortable shoes are a must, as it’s a huge area. Stay hydrated and watch your step on older stone walkways. #Beijing #PalaceMuseum #History #ChinaTravel #CulturalAdventure
