Beijing Forbidden City

The Forbidden City in Beijing is one of the most fascinating places in the city. This city was home to emperors and their families from 1420 to 1912, and much of it has been preserved in its original state. The massive high doors, about 15 cm thick, the painted ceilings, the scale of the city itself, and much more are simply astonishing. How to get to the Forbidden City❓ - We managed to buy tickets on-site; the ticket offices are located on the left side of the entrance. The ticket price was 60 yuan per person. You need to have your passport with you, as it will serve as your ticket. Alternatively, you can book a guided tour in your native language in advance on Trip.com. What can you see in the Forbidden City❓ - First and foremost, the majestic entrance, the towering walls surrounding the Forbidden City, numerous buildings including the main palaces, the Imperial Garden, the Palace of Heavenly Purity, and the Palace of Earthly Tranquility where emperors and their consorts resided. Cafes and souvenirs❓ - There are plenty of shops on the premises where you can buy souvenirs as keepsakes. The prices are quite reasonable for such a place. You can also enjoy a cup of coffee, ice cream, and simply sit and admire the views. Is it worth visiting this place❓ - Absolutely worth it! We are not fans of museums and similar places, and we ended up in the Forbidden City by chance while strolling around. However, this place amazed, inspired, and delighted us despite the crowds. Opening hours❓ - October to April: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM - May to September: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM How to get there❓ - The Forbidden City can be found on any map as it is located in the very center of Beijing. If you cannot access maps, ask the reception desk at your hotel to order a taxi for you and show them this name: 紫禁城. They will take you to the destination!
