A HUGE historical ruin in Beijing that is both worthy and unworthy to go

#chinaattractions Yuanmingyuan, also known as the Old Summer Palace, is a historic complex in Beijing. Constructed during the Qing Dynasty, it used to serve as a royal garden and retreat for emperors and their families, showcasing both Chinese and Western architectural styles. However, during the Second Opium War in the mid-19th century, Yuanmingyuan was looted and destroyed by British and French troops, leading to its tragic decline. Today, the site serves more as a poignant reminder of cultural loss, which means there’s not much to see aesthetically speaking. If you’re into Chinese history, then it’d be one of the must-go. Else you might find it boring. And the park is super huge. From one end to the other end, it would take more than an hour. Just imagine how much time it would take to walk around all the areas within the park.
