Dongjiaominxiang: The only surviving 20th century Western-style buildings in the imperial capital

A hundred years ago, this was the "embassy area" and all affairs within the area were handled by each country. In 1950, Beijing demanded the return of occupied territories from various countries and all its buildings were requisitioned, thus ending the history of the Legation Quarter in Dongjiaomin Lane. This alley has witnessed the ups and downs of history and reminded us to be self-reliant. 🇨🇳 📍Visiting guide: Location: near No. 4 Chongwenmennei Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing Transportation: Subway Line 2, Line 5, Chongwenmen Station Exit E Recommended route: St. Michael's Catholic Church-Former Site of the Belgian Embassy-Former Site of the French Post Office-China Court Museum-Beijing Police Museum 1⃣️St. Michael's Catholic Church: The church is only open during the ceremony. You can see the Gothic-style building inside through the iron gate at the door. You can take pictures of the building across the street. It's like being in Europe in a second. The intersection next to it is very photogenic. 2⃣️Former site of the Belgian Embassy: The red building opposite the church is now the Zijin Hotel. You can go in and have a cup of coffee, and it looks nice inside. 3⃣️The former site of the French Post Office: Walk west along Dongjiaomin Lane, and you will see a row of gray squares. Many people take wedding photos here. 4⃣️China Court Museum: The landmark building of Dongjiaominxiang. The orange building is like a castle. It is nice to take pictures opposite the intersection. 5⃣️Beijing Police Museum: Going further west is a controlled road section and you must make an appointment in advance on the [Beijing Police] applet before entering.
