The earliest open zoo in China with the most animals

"Beijing Zoo" is located at No. 137 Xizhimenwai Street, Beijing. It was founded in the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1906) and was initially named "Wansheng Garden." Its predecessor was the Qing Agricultural Experiment Field. The zoo covers an area of about 86 hectares and houses and exhibits more than 480 species and over 4,900 rare wild animals. It is the earliest open zoo in China and the one with the most species of animals on display. It is also a world-renowned zoo. The park also retains many historical relics, such as the Changguan Building, the Song Jiaoren Memorial Tower, and the Changchun Hall, which bear witness to the century-long history of Beijing Zoo.
