Beijing Suburban Homestay | A Hidden Retreat at the Foot of the Water Great Wall

Heading to the suburbs of Beijing for the weekend, this was my first experience as a southerner witnessing the northern charm. This time I visited Huairou, choosing to stay in a mountain homestay located within the centuries-old Yaoziyu Castle, near the Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall. The room I stayed in, Yishanjian·Jing, is one of the many styles in Yishanjian, featuring Moroccan style with its brick-red exterior walls and bright architectural lines that highlight a strong sense of design. Surrounded by mountains, it feels like a hidden retreat, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, quietly enjoying the serenity of the mountains. Each room is very spacious and bright, with the tranquil afternoon sunlight streaming in, creating a stunning light and shadow effect that is admirable. Bathed in the gentle light and shadows, the cream-yellow room feels even more comfortable and warm, and lounging here for an afternoon is a treat. What impressed me most about this homestay were its windows. Not only does each room have a large window, but the public areas and cabins do as well, with each window framing the beautiful scenery outside like a picture frame, offering a great view. The yard has a huge lawn and swimming pool, and you can see the mountains and the Great Wall not far away, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing holiday.
