Wat Sampanthawong

#tripmission Wat Sampanthawong or Wat Ko Kaew Langkaram is a third-class royal temple of the Worawihan type, located near the Chao Phraya River, 579 Song Sawat Road, Sampanthawong Subdistrict, Sampanthawong District, Bangkok. It is an ancient temple that has been around since the Ayutthaya period. Originally, there was a canal surrounding the temple, connecting to the Chao Phraya River, which is the origin of the name "Wat Ko". The land of the original temple is adjacent to the Chao Phraya River. There is a pavilion on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. According to the chronicles, "During the Kathin robe offering festival, King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, traveled to offer the Kathin robe at Wat Sampanthawong and Wat Pathum Khongkha by water. The royal barge docked at the pavilion on the bank of Wat Ko. He traveled by foot to offer the Kathin robe at this temple." #wattosann
