🏡 Wat Champa was established in 1822 during the reign of King Rama III. The name and history of the founder are unknown, but the temple is believed to have been built during the Ayutthaya period, as the old ordination hall is in the Vilanda style, which was popular in the late Ayutthaya era. 🏘 In 1848, King Rama III granted a garden in Khlong Bang Ramat to the temple, leading to renovations. This is evident in the ordination hall, viharn, and cloister, which were decorated with porcelain and glazed ceramic figurines, following the royal preferences of King Rama III. Key attractions within the temple include: 🏠 Ordination Hall: The gable is adorned with Western-style porcelain, including large floral-patterned washbasins, and decorated with painted stucco, porcelain, and glazed ceramics. The eastern porch features painted stucco depicting the Great Renunciation, while the western porch illustrates Lady Visakha offering bathing cloths. Inside, the base of the principal Buddha statue is surrounded by a metal balustrade cast in England, featuring Western-style floral patterns and the royal emblem from the reign of King Rama V. It is believed that the hall underwent further renovations during King Rama V's reign. The ordination hall houses Luang Por Chok Dee, the principal Buddha statue, and mural paintings. 🧱 Cloister: The gable is decorated with painted stucco depicting Buddhist stories.
