Wat Prayurawongsawas Worawihan

#BangkokTravel “Wat Prayurawongsawas” was built in 1828 by Somdej Chao Phraya Borom Maha Prayurawong (Dis Bunnag) when he was Chao Phraya Phra Khlang, the acting Director of the Port Department and Minister of Defence. He dedicated a coffee plantation to build a temple and offered it as a royal temple during the reign of King Rama III. Inside the temple is the “Phra Borommathat Maha Chedi” which is special because it is the only chedi in Rattanakosin with a brick pillar as the center. It is a large chedi in a round shape, in the shape of an inverted egg, and there are 18 smaller chedis lined up around the large chedi. This Phra Borommathat Maha Chedi has enshrined the relics of the Lord Buddha since 1907. The principal chedi of Wat Prayurawongsawas Worawihan has received the first prize from UNESCO in the Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage Conservation Project Competition in 2013. #Mr.Tourism
